Muji 2012 Planner

While everyone's excited collecting stickers for their Starbucks' planner, I already got myself a new planner! Yey! The MUJI 2012 Planner. The design is very simple -  just a white colored jacket with the year 2012 on the cover.

What attracted me the most with this planner is it's minimalist approach. Only the fundamentals are included from the cover to the inside.  Plus, it is quite affordable. Just for 425 pesos you can already own an awesome planner!

My photos won't do justice to the awesome look of the planner. So I suggest that you check out more pictures here. And if you would like to see it in person, try visiting their stores in Serendra and SM MOA. I got mine from SM MOA! :)

Movie Review: The Three Musketeers

I watched the movie together with my friend. His treat since he felt sorry for ditching me twice in a row. Pity me. hahaha. Anyway, the movie was great - the casts, the setting and the story! It was a mix of comedy and adventure, which are my top movie genres! Being a fan of these genres, I can definitely say that the movie met my standards. The hilarious one-liner of the casts kept the movie entertaining. The spectacular sword-fighting kept me on the edge of my seat, eagerly waiting how the characters will do their action scenes. Story-wise, it was pretty decent. I have not read or watched any Musketeer book/film in my life, so I don't have anything to compare it on. But for me, I liked the adventure of the four main characters, Aramis, Athos, Pothos and D'Artagnan. My favorite characters would be D'Artagnan and Milady de Winter. D'Artagnan is just so adorable in his lines. hahaha. Milady de Winter on the other hand is so intriguing to watch. She will make you wonder how the film will go.

If you haven't seen the movie yet, I suggest that you go watch it now, if it is still showing. The trailer below will make you more eager to watch the film! :)

The hot-headed young D'Artagnan (Logan Lerman) joins forces with three rogue Musketeers (Matthew MacFadyen, Luke Evans and Ray Stevenson) in this reboot of Alexandre Dumas' story. They must stop the evil Richlieu (Christoph Waltz) and face off with Buckingham (Orlando Bloom) and the treacherous Milady (Milla Jovovich). The action adventure is given a state of the art update in 3-D. -- (C) Summit

Muhsroom Burger in ECHOstore

Looking for a meatless burger dish? Well, there is one grilling in Serendra. ECHOstore has been promoting sustainable lifestyle in their store through their eco-friendly products. So it is also but a perfect idea to offer shoppers a way to incorporate sustainable lifestyle in their everyday meals. I think they are offering around 8 dishes. The dish that I tried was the Mushroom Burger. I don’t think that it is quite unique since there are quite a few stores already offering the same dish.
However, this is my first time trying out this dish. The Mushroom burger was composed of mushroom patty, lettuce, tomato and malunggay pan de sal. It has a salad side dish composed of lettuce, slices of apple and slices of tomato. The plating of the dish was quite simple. They just placed the salad on the side and the burger in the middle. The taste, very tasty! It is one of the most great-tasting burgers I had! I loved it.
The only thing that takes me aback is its selling price. It is being sold at Php 195 excluding a 7-8% service charge. Very expensive for an average college student like me. But if you can afford it, try it! It is definitely worth it.

The Book Surgeon

Using knives, tweezers and surgical tools, Brian Dettmer carves one page at a time. Nothing inside the out-of-date encyclopedias, medical journals, illustration books, or dictionaries is relocated or implanted, only removed.]
“The richness and depth of the book is universally respected yet often undiscovered as the monopoly of the form and relevance of the information fades over time. The book’s intended function has decreased and the form remains linear in a non-linear world. By altering physical forms of information and shifting preconceived functions, new and unexpected roles emerge."

I find Brian Dettmer amazing! Bow down sa talent niya!

My Internship Experience Unmasked

Honestly, when I had my first internship I did not know what to expect since I had no idea as of how it feels working; worse on an environment I am not familiar with. It felt like as if I was in my point in life where after brilliantly laying out my plan there would be a sudden unexpected bump that would deviate me out of my designed path.

When I was about to start my first internship, questions like what kind of challenges I would be facing and what kind of people I would be working with kept running into my mind. But I did not let those thoughts bother me. I just mustered all the confidence I had in me and tried to act all mature and ready to face the corporate world. Besides, in my mind, it would just be for a few weeks. All I need to do is to show up, do my work and leave.

But it’s amazing how in a few days many of my views about internship changed. Internship was not at all scary, it was just strange. I just needed time to adjust and adapt to the culture the office has. Supervisors are not all unapproachable and intimidating. They would be more than willing to be your mentor and teach you.

Before my internship stint, I have never truly been alone. I have always had my safety net with me, ready to catch me when I fall. But through my internship experience I learned how to be confident about the skills and knowledge my school taught me. I stopped doubting myself. I maximized the opportunity of learning and applying the theories I learned from school.

Internship is just embarking on a new journey. You may never know what you might find, but always remember to look at it in a positive way. Besides, you might just not gain new experience but also gain new friends!

Healthy Living: Jumping Jacks

Every new year, I am like one of those people who tell themselves that they would live the next year by living healthy - exercising daily, not skipping any meal, etc. It may surprise you that I am committing myself to this resolution now! :) From the internet, I saw an exercise routine of some sort.

It starts with doing a 100 jumping jacks then 90 sit-ups, 80 squats....
However, due to the fact that I am not really one of those super athletic, super strong guy on earth, I can hardly finish the sit-ups and the squats. HAHAHAHA. Well obviously ang hirap kaya! But I make some amends naman. I finish everything the whole day. So though I cannot do the 90 sit-ups in one stop, I can do it naman the whole day.

Until now I was wondering why should Jumping Jacks be on top of the list of the exercise? When I was in high school we end up our stretch with a Jumping Jack. But this routine asks me to start my exercise with a Jumping Jack. So I researched about it and I found out that:

Jumping Jack moves are a heart-healthy means of warming up prior to exercise. These movements increase the heart rate in gradual increments to get the heart pumping and oxygen and blood flowing to the muscles. When the heart and muscles are working at optimal performance, the body uses energy more efficiently.

Jumping Jack is meant for warming up the body. I guess it is a good start to wake the body up and energize it so it would not get shock when you do some hardcore exercise afterwards.

So my suggestion is that before doing any exercise, I guess warming up by Jumping Jacks would be an important thing to do! :)
