JULY 20, FRIDAY

6:15pm – OPENING FILM : MARIO O’HARA’s ‘BABAE SA BREAKWATER’ at the CCP Main Theatre (Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo)

BABAE SA BREAKWATER is a film about a man Basilio (Kristoffer King), who escapes from provincial Leyte to the slums of Manila with his younger brother Buboy (Alcris Galura). Residing in the shanty town tenements beneath the tourist-infested breakwater of Manila, Basilio falls in love with a prostitute Paquita (Katherine Luna) a girl who started whoring so early in her life that at her relatively young age she’s already played out, her body full of sexual diseases and open sores. Their relationship is troubled by the apparent poverty and the more impending threat of the slums’ jealous protector, ex-cop Dave (Gardo Versoza).

Movie Review: The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)

I had the chance to watch The Amazing Spider-Man on its first day of screening in the Philippines! I glad I did watch it on its first day! The movie lived up to its title - AMAZING. Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone were such a cutie couple in the movie. Their chemistry is undeniable and their acting were superb - funny and serious.

Another thing I liked about the movie was the new story line. It did not start with Peter Parker as a journalist rather it started with Peter Parker as a young boy, whose parents mysteriously disappeared. Then it revolves around his high school life, superhero duties and love life.

Probably the worst thing I can say about the film is that it lacked action scenes. There wasn't any major conflict that brewed. I hope the next film will have more amazing action stunts!

Overall, it is a great remake of the franchise. This is the second amazing movie I have seen this year! I guess I am just really a big fan of Sci-fi movies

The Perks Of Being A Wallflower Official Trailer

The first trailer of the much awaited film adaptation written and directed by Stephen Chbosky based on his book goes online! The first trailer was shown during the 2012 MTV Awards and now is available online for everyone to watch - watch The Perks Of Being A Wallflower Official Trailer below:

The film is about Charlie (Logan Lerman), a 14 year old freshman, who never really stood out until he meets Sam (Emma Watson) and Patrick (Ezra Miller), who lets him in their circle of friends.

It has been two years since I read the book and I am still very excited right now to watch it in big screen. The story was a refreshing view on the discovery of teenage life.

Movie Review: Dark Shadows (2012)

An imprisoned vampire, Barnabas Collins, is set free and returns to his ancestral home, where his dysfunctional descendants are in need of his protection.
The movie was not as great as I had expected it to be. There were a lot of characters introduced but had a very limited time to totally explore them. The progression of the story was fast but very shallow. One minute you see Barnabas being seduced by Angelique then the other minute you see him confessing his feelings towards Victoria, who I think is a weak character. I think it would have been better if the film focused on less characters and delved more on their stories. Nevertheless, the film was witty and funny, thanks to Johnny Depp's superb acting skills.
